About us

The anang&ilema association is a young non-profit organization that wants to support where the people affected feel the most need. We are Alma Joie Onambele, Céline Jacqueline Zeller, Eleonora Sophie Pohl and Annalea Dubs from Switzerland and Valentine Mulong Ayeah from Cameroon. Alma, Céline and Valentine met in the summer of 2017 in a project focusing on agriculture and cultural exchange in Cameroon. And since then, despite the great distance, they have maintained close contact. Two years after the joint project, Alma was plagued by the news from the crisis in Cameroon and Valentine because of unemployment due to the crisis. Not long after that, the idea to start an own project was born. And today, as much as then, we are motivated and confident to be able to change something in this world.

What makes us special: We are a manageable number of unsalaried (except Valentine) employees, we act transparently and we are up close and personal. Valentine on site at the project and Alma, Eleonora, Annalea and Céline in Switzerland to finance the projects in Cameroon through the organization of the association itself and events here in Switzerland. We always choose to collaborate with the people actively involved. And exactly through this collaboration the first project idea was born. While discussing with women's groups in Cameroon, we came to the conclusion that the goal must be to support young women in becoming financially self-reliant. And that is what we are successfully doing today!

Our Values

Our goal? Sustainable development cooperation!

Sustainability: We try to proceed as sustainably as possible in all areas of our work and are happy to sometimes also take the longer route there. Starting with the elaboration of the project, talking to everyone and in the always ongoing exchange between all parties. In the selection of our bank (ABS) we proceeded carefully, for the production of our T-shirts (Tarzan) we decided on a fair and organic production. We also care about sustainability in the products we use for events. The idea we try to incorporate in every step of our planning is that what we do and support is useful in the long run and creates positive change.

Development cooperation: As the word implies, cooperation is very close to our hearts. We meet at eye level and want to hear every voice, discuss every idea and let it flow in order to finally achieve a long-term improvement, also in the ecological and agriculturally organic sense.

Purpose

The anang&ilema association wants to specifically promote the emancipation of humans, with a focus on women in rural Cameroon. While doing this, it is important to the association to formulate the projects in exchange with the people involved. In this way, what is most urgent for the people concerned is to be promoted. This includes everything that sustainably improves the living standards of the people in Cameroon and brings them further. The aim is to promote sustainable emancipation through projects. After a short period of time, the projects should no longer need any external influence from the association, so that they can quickly continue to run independently. The association wants to offer support where it is needed and not impose anything. The long-term and overarching goal of the anang&ilema association is empowerment, therefore to promote the autonomy and independence of the people in Cameroon.
